Proving Termination with Adornments

Proving termination is one of the most intriguing problems of program verification. Recently, the study of termination of numerical programs led to the emerging of the adorning technique. This approach is based on the idea of distinguishing between different subsets of values for variables, and deriving piecewise level mappings based on these subsets. In the current paper we generalise the tech...

A tick from a prehistoric Arizona coprolite.

Ticks have never been reported in archaeological analyses. Here, we present the discovery of a tick from a coprolite excavated from Antelope Cave in extreme northwest Arizona. Dietary analysis indicates that the coprolite has a human origin. This archaeological occupation is associated with the Ancestral Pueblo culture (Anasazi). This discovery supports previous hypotheses that ticks were a pot...

Application of UML Associations and Their Adornments in Design Recovery

Many CASE tools support reverse engineering and the UML. However, it can be observed that usually, only a subset of the UML notation is supported, namely those parts with a more or less direct code representation. Although a lot of research is done in this field, the more advanced features of UML notations are not commonly supported in reverse engineering. In this paper, we show approaches to d...

Estimation of sex from the talus in prehistoric Native Americans.

We present both a multivariate discriminant analysis and a univariate procedure to estimate sex from measures of the talus (length, width and height). Both methods are comparable in accuracy (about 85%), but the univariate procedure ispreferred due to its simplicity.
